Survey
The survey was conducted by the city plan team in 2019 via interviewing the locals that live in Rotterdam, which reveals a few key results:
Reason for not walking
Reason for walking
-cleaning head/relaxing
-getting outside
-staying healthy
-reach close stations, shops and parks
- the weather
- have not time
- traveling distance is too far to be by foot
maybe design a object for preventing to get wet in rainy days ?
design an object that pedestrains can carry green plants easily everywhere when they walking?
Points for improvement:
cars look big compare to pedestrains. maybe design a custume which makee pedestrains look big, buffy, eye-catching, like a walking sculpture.
what is a statement piece
what is a compaign
got some interpretations from fashion bloggers online
for my understanding of a statement work is more like this one, the chairs designed by Laila Laurel, which aim to prevent people from " manspreading"; to expose sexist issues.
The criticism towards sexism from the work is more of the essence of this design piece.
Launching a new product often involves marketing campaigns aimed at spreading awareness of the product and why customers need it. A product launch campaign is executed by the manufacturer in coordination with any distribution partners. For example, consider a shoe company that launches a new pair of women's sneakers. The marketing campaign would likely focus on reaching women of a certain age group and would include marketing tactics such as social media advertising and emails to existing customers.

NOVA, Zaha Hadid andUnited Nude‘s creative director Rem D Koolhass
Hadid, an architect with a passion for shoes, and Rem D, the original shoe architect, agreed to collaborate on the design of a shoe with no pre-conceptions and ignore all the rules to create an entirely new form of shoe. The result is quintessentially Hadid. The revolutionary design of the NOVA shoe combines innovative materialization and ergonomic considerations with the dynamism of hadid’s unmistakable architectural language to convey an inherent sense of movement; revealing the experimentation and invention of Hadid’s process through every stage of design and construction.

Bluepanelshoe,Marloes ten Bhömer
Bluepanelshoe, the first shoe generated from one of the 17 hypothetical constellations, is based on the following anatomic insight: In barefoot ambulant motion the heel strikes on the lateral side of the foot and propels the foot through the big toe. The hypothesis is that in high-heeled ambulant motion, the heel (both the heel of the foot and the physical shoe part) should also strike on the lateral side of the foot. The resulting heel design derived from these parameters would make the foot prone to eversion and inversion. In order to negate this motion, a ring shaped constellation of contact is placed around the foot.
By ignoring the sandwich method – the traditional manner in which shoes are produced – and basing the design on these structural parameters and adhering contact constellations instead, the aesthetic and structural possibilities open up completely. Congruently, these new set of parameters, which shirk fashion trends, allow for new shoe typologies which defy cultural stigmas that too often lead to the stereotyping of women.

These costumes will be worn by performers, walking on the street, which aims to showcase pedestrain command more space and priority
For me, shoes can associate with walking. The unusual look shoes can get attention from people and can be talked about. Then people got more interests in knowing the background story.
The research shows people prefer walking alongside some places with river and nature because it is nice to view them while walking by. Which may motivate them walk more. Therefore, the city plan team has been working on building more walkable routes along river and nature, and creating more greenery area.

New Rotterdammers do not always recognize themselves in our historical collection. That is why the museum has been traveling into the city since 2000 to collect and present contemporary Rotterdam with Rotterdammers.

experiment. mixing clay with plant's leaves
the metal part is not only for decorating, but it also reflects the plants, make the illusion there is more green, and when the wearer looks down at his shoe, the metal will reflect the plant and the wearer together in the same frame, metaphorically indicating the wearer is being with the plants.
as to fit in the context, I have to put my feet in the poster to showcase this is a shoe rather than just an architectural look pot. Yet the problem is that the feet always stand out too much, and therefore I have to adjust a lot.
